Executive Chairman and Founder, Connect America
Ken Gross is Connect America’s founder and currently serves as Executive Chairman of the company. A pioneer in the Personal Emergency Response Services industry (PERS) with more than 35 years in the security business, Ken started Connect America in 2004 to deliver personal emergency monitoring and home medical alarm services to older adults with medical ailments or conditions who wish to continue living at home independently.
In 2007, Ken founded the Medical Alert Monitoring Association (MAMA), the only professional trade organization representing the needs of the medical and personal emergency response services industry. He continues to serve as the organization’s President and Board member today.
Prior to starting Connect America, Ken was President and CEO of Tri-State Alarm Company for more than 25 years. Ken is a graduate of Bloomsburg University located in Pennsylvania.
Chief Executive Officer, Connect America
David Cautin has more than 20 years experience defining and executing growth strategies at both global corporations and early stage ventures.
Hired in 2014 as Connect America’s CEO, David’s focus is growing our platform as the leading independent medical alert company in North America by expanding our relationship with the hundreds of thousands of seniors and their loved ones who put their safety and trust in us.
Prior to Connect America, David was Chief Executive Officer for kgb, a global provider of branded consumer and commercial services, where he pivoted the growth model to personal lending and business solutions.
David has also held executive leadership positions at NYSE Euronext, TrueSlant (acquired by Forbes), Revolution Money (acquired by AMEX), and AOL.
David holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics degree, magna cum laude, from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Chief Operating Officer / Chief Financial Officer (COO/CFO), Connect America
John Brady is Connect America’s Chief Operating Officer / Chief Financial Officer (COO/CFO), responsible for supply-chain, fulfillment, customer service operations, accounting and finance.
A long-time industry veteran, John established The Resource Group, Inc. and later transferred the Security Group to TRG Associates, Inc. Previously, John acted as General Manager, Installation, and Service Manager for more than twenty alarm companies, with a focus on improving installation quality, service response, technical training, and system design.
Earlier in his career John served as Controller for the Mount Tolman Mining project on the Colville Indian Reservation in Grand Coulee, WA. Prior, he held CFO or Treasury positions with Page Wilson, Smith & Wesson, and Setlowear, before joining Securitylink as CFO.
John earned his MBA from Babson College and a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He also holds a Connecticut CPA certification.
Chief Marketing Officer, Connect America
As Connect America’s Chief Marketing Officer, Heather Ata is responsible for driving business growth through strategic planning with a strong focus on customer acquisition and retention.
Before joining Connect America, Heather served as Director of Marketing for DIRECTV, where she led the cross-functional integration following the acquisition of LifeShield, Inc. Prior to the acquisition, Heather served as Vice President of Customer Experience at LifeShield where she was responsible for strategic planning, brand identity, media buying, new product launches, sales, marketing communications, and customer retention.
Previously, Ms. Ata held several leadership roles at NutriSystem, Inc., where she pioneered a successful retention program that salvaged more than $50 million in revenue for the company annually.
Heather holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Ursinus College, and is a member of the Junior Women’s Club, a social service organization in New Jersey benefitting causes in Camden County and surrounding areas.
President, Healthcare Division, Connect America
As President of Connect America’s Healthcare Division, Richard Brooks is responsible for the marketing of its state-of-the-art solutions to hospitals, homecare agencies, visiting nurse associations and state and local Medicaid agencies located throughout the United States.
Richard has been an executive in the PERS industry for more than 30 years. Prior to joining Connect America, he was President and CEO of Health Watch, Inc., the second largest PERS Company in the industry.
At the time of its sale to Philips Electronics, the company had over 125,000 subscribers located throughout the United States.
Richard holds a Juris Doctor, Law from Temple University’s James E. Beasley School of Law, and is also a founding member and serves on the Board of Directors of the Medical Alert Monitoring Association (MAMA).
SVP Product & Technology, Connect America
As Connect America’s Senior Vice President Product & Technology, Vijay Karia is responsible for the company’s enterprise systems, telephony systems and IT teams.
Previously, Vijay led the development and implementation of enterprise systems at NYSE Euronext and kgb, including CRM, web, financial, accounting, and human resources systems. He has managed technology teams in the U.S. as well as London, Paris, and the Philippines.
Prior to starting his career in technology, Vijay competed on the men’s ATP professional tennis circuit. Vijay also holds a BSBA degree from Boston University Questrom School of Business.
